  • Day 01:
    Arrival in Kathmandu

    Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel.

    After check-in and some time to rest, you can enjoy a relaxed introduction to Kathmandu and its unique cultural atmosphere.

  • Day 02:
    Kathmandu Exploration

    After breakfast, begin your exploration of Nepal’s Buddhist heritage with a visit to Pharping, a sacred pilgrimage destination located in the hills south of Kathmandu.

    Pharping is an important center of Tibetan Buddhism and is associated with Guru Padmasambhava, who is believed to have meditated in the area. Visit Asura Cave, one of the most revered meditation sites, along with nearby monasteries and shrines. The peaceful surroundings and mountain landscape make Pharping an ideal place to experience Nepal’s living Buddhist traditions.

    Continue to Patan, also known as Lalitpur, one of the Kathmandu Valley’s oldest cultural centers. Explore Patan Durbar Square, known for its exquisite Newari architecture, ancient courtyards, temples and traditional craftsmanship. Visit Golden Temple (Hiranya Varna Mahavihar), an important Buddhist monastery in the heart of the old city.

    In the late afternoon, proceed to Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world and one of Nepal’s most important Tibetan Buddhist pilgrimage sites. As evening approaches, the stupa takes on a particularly spiritual atmosphere as monks, pilgrims and visitors gather for prayers and circumambulation.

  • Day 03:
    Namobuddha – Bhaktapur

    In the morning, drive to Namobuddha, one of the most sacred Buddhist pilgrimage sites in Nepal. Set amid forested hills and overlooking the surrounding countryside, Namobuddha is traditionally associated with a previous life of the Buddha.

    According to Buddhist tradition, Prince Mahasattva encountered a starving tigress and her cubs in the forest and offered his body to save them. The site commemorates this act of compassion and self-sacrifice.

    Visit Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery, an important Tibetan Buddhist monastery situated above the pilgrimage site. Take time to observe the monastery’s architecture, prayer halls and peaceful surroundings before returning toward the Kathmandu Valley.

    Continue to Bhaktapur, an ancient Newar city renowned for its temples, palaces, courtyards and traditional architecture. Explore Bhaktapur Durbar Square, including the Golden Gate, Nyatapola Temple and other historic monuments. The old city also offers an opportunity to see traditional pottery, woodcarving and other forms of Newari craftsmanship.

    Return to Kathmandu in the late afternoon.

  • Day 04:
    Kathmandu – Lumbini

    After an early breakfast, transfer to Kathmandu airport for your flight to Bhairahawa, the gateway to Lumbini. Upon arrival, drive to Lumbini and check into your hotel.

    Lumbini is one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage destinations in the world and is traditionally recognized as the birthplace of Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha.

    Begin your exploration at the Maya Devi Temple, the principal sacred site of Lumbini. The temple marks the location traditionally identified as the birthplace of the Buddha. Nearby stands the Ashoka Pillar, erected by Emperor Ashoka during his pilgrimage to Lumbini in the 3rd century BCE.

    Spend time exploring the surrounding sacred garden and reflecting on the significance of Lumbini as a place of pilgrimage for Buddhists from around the world.

  • Day 05:
    Lumbini Exploration

    Continue your exploration of the Buddhist heritage of the Lumbini region with a visit to Tilaurakot, identified by archaeologists as the ancient capital of the Shakya kingdom and traditionally associated with the Buddha’s early life.

    The archaeological remains offer an insight into the world in which Siddhartha Gautama lived before renouncing his royal life. Explore the remains of the ancient settlement and surrounding archaeological sites.

    Return to Lumbini and visit the Monastic Zone, which brings together monasteries and Buddhist centers representing different traditions and countries. The area features monasteries inspired by Tibetan, Theravada and Mahayana traditions, each reflecting its own architectural and spiritual character.

    Depending on time and interest, there may also be an opportunity to visit additional sites within the Lumbini Development Zone.

  • Day 06:
    Lumbini – Kathmandu

    Transfer to Bhairahawa Airport for your flight back to Kathmandu.

    Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and enjoy some time to relax.

    In the late afternoon, visit Swayambhunath Stupa, one of the oldest and most revered Buddhist sites in Nepal. Perched on a hill overlooking Kathmandu, the stupa is often known as the Monkey Temple because of the large population of monkeys living around the complex.

    Explore the main stupa, surrounding shrines, prayer wheels and Buddhist sculptures. From the hilltop, enjoy panoramic views across Kathmandu Valley, particularly beautiful toward sunset.

    Return to your hotel in the evening.

    Kathmandu – Departure

    Following breakfast, you will have some free time depending on your flight schedule. You may use the time for last-minute shopping or relaxation at the hotel.

The best time for the Nepal Buddhist Heritage Tour is during spring and autumn, when the weather is generally pleasant, dry and comfortable for sightseeing and visiting pilgrimage sites.

Spring (March to May): Kathmandu generally experiences daytime temperatures of around 25°C to 30°C, while Lumbini is warmer, with temperatures ranging from approximately 30°C to 38°C. March and April are particularly comfortable for sightseeing.

Autumn (October to November): This is an excellent season for the tour, with clear skies and comfortable temperatures.
